The Alternative Giving Market is a joy-filled answer to the common dilemma: What do you get the person who has everything?
Honor those who have enough by giving to those who have too little! Why give Uncle Harold yet another sweater he doesn’t need (or even want)? Instead, shop from 15+ local nonprofits and 20 global mission projects — all offering meaningful gifts that change lives.
Does Uncle Harold love dogs? 🐾 A $25 gift in his name provides a week of pet food for a family in need through the Animal Rescue League.
Is he a retired doctor? 💉 A $25 donation provides ten polio vaccines for children overseas through the Rotarians.
The Johnston Alternative Giving Market is held at St Paul on Saturday, December 6th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. You can pay by cash, check, or card — and while you’re here, enjoy handmade crafts from Many Hands Thrift Market and homemade soups and baked goods for lunch, 100% of the proceeds from this event go to the charities you selected.
Join us in spreading generosity that lasts longer than any sweater! The AGM is filled with unique gift ideas designed to delight the recipient and help those less fortunate in our community, and beyond, experience better lives.
“When you purchase a gift through the Alternative Giving Market, you are building partnerships with people in need in Des Moines and throughout the world” said Bill O’Connell, St Paul Presbyterian Church’s pastor. “You will be doing something meaningful, and it will also make you and your gift recipients feel great!”
