The ministry of the Board of Deacons shall be one of compassion and shall include giving a helping hand wherever there is a need within the congregation, acting both as a Pastor’s Aid and as an outreach effort in the community.

Picture
The Deacons of St. Paul Presbyterian Church serve as a ministry of compassion, care, and quiet faithfulness. Often working behind the scenes, they help ensure that no one in our congregation or wider community feels overlooked or alone. Through acts of service, presence, and generosity, the Deacons embody Christ’s love in practical and meaningful ways.  Their ministries include:
  • Seeds of Hope, a community outreach that shares baskets of encouragement with local fire stations, schools, and the Blood Center.
  • Home Communion, bringing the sacrament to homebound members and those unable to attend worship.
  • Seasonal care for our worship space, including arranging poinsettias and Easter lilies that help mark sacred seasons with beauty.
  • Card Ministry, sending notes of care, sympathy, and encouragement to members during times of joy and hardship.
  • The Artisan Fair, an annual art and craft fair held each August that brings together creativity, community, and support for ministry.
  • Care Notes and Grief Booklets, offered to those who need extra support during seasons of loss or transition.
  • Shepherding Call Tree, a network of connection that helps the church stay in touch with members and respond to needs as they arise.
  • Outreach to our elderly neighbors, including intergenerational projects such as making Valentine’s cards with St. Paul Kids.
  • Emergency financial assistance, offering confidential support to members facing unexpected hardship.
  • Celebrating milestones, including hosting birthday and anniversary recognitions during fellowship time.
Through these ministries and many quiet acts of care, the Deacons help St. Paul live out Christ’s call to love our neighbors with compassion and grace.
